Absorption. upon skin contact with another person she'll absorb memories and temporarily take on personality traits of the person she touches. If someone has a special ability, she'll be able to temporarily access it, depending on how long she's in contact with the person who has the powers. It's painful for whoever she's touching the longer she holds on, but she'd pass out from leeching if she held on for longer than a minute. Her powers wouldn't work on slotteds at all, at the most they may experience some slight discomfort coming in contact with her, but it'd be unlikely. |
Gwen Ramsey was born into a humble Irish household, placed in Dublin. Her beginnings were of no real consequence, filled with playing with neighbourhood children and being just a generally normal child. She fought with her siblings, and was told to do things that she never managed to do without a scolding. She was normal. It wasn't until she was sixteen, in her first relationship that things became complicated. Things had been fairly normal before, nothing unusual, but one random day when he'd brushed his fingers over his cheek something strange occurred and he fell to the ground, seizuring. She'd been shocked, terrified, and called the hospital. They'd said his system had suffered an immense shock, and he went into a vegetable-like state. Confused, Gwen confided in her mother what had happened, explained how she'd felt like she'd had her boyfriend inside her head the moment he touched her, but there was no help there. Her mother was unsure how to react, and Gwen wouldn't let her touch her, because she was afraid she was part of the problem. A year passed where Gwen was just sort of floating around the house covered head to toe in fabric, before she decided to take matters into her own hands and leave. Convinced that she'd done something wrong somehow, she decided to find spiritual people who may be able to help. Her grandmother had known a fortune teller, and she went to her first. The woman didn't know how to help Gwen, but she gave her some direction, and places to start. It wasn't really easy, Gwen didn't have a lot of money and had to pause in many of the cities she managed to get herself to, find herself temporary jobs and scrape together enough money to continue along on her way. By twenty she'd found herself in Jerusalem, and she hoped to finally find at least something here, but was again running short on funds, so she took up a job as a hostess at a restaurant, and has since been using whatever free time she's had to try and find someone willing to help her. |
Gwen was always a fairly extroverted girl who didn't shy away from challenges or discouragement. Her living with the curse and repeatedly meeting dead ends has somewhat worn on her rebellious spirit, although she still has fire within her and as long as she doesn't have to touch anyone she's capable of displaying it. Still, she tries to avoid making close friends, and boyfriends are completely out of the question. Whenever someone tries to ask her out she's usually very quick to brush them off, almost verging on rudeness. She gets frustrated easily, as well, with her predicament, with her lack of knowledge, with her insufficient funds, and with her mother, whenever she thinks about the woman too much. She's a fairly 'hot and cold' person, in most aspects of her life, although if someone reaches out to touch her, she'll immediately shy away, because she's had enough accidental bumps in her life to make her almost terrified of the aspect of coming into contact with another human being. |
